I almost didn't. The only reason I survived is because Birkin began detonating the facility a short distance away. The explosions affected the area we were in; it gave me enough time to get out from under the thing I was trying to fight and escape.

He really would have killed you, then? Well, at least you escaped, but I can certainly see why you're irritated by this! That's certainly no good reason to kill someone!

I normally don't take up issue like this with Sergei trying to kill me - we each had a habit of standing directly in the way of what the other wanted, and so it was more or less the natural conclusion of things.

This just seemed egregious, however. There was no reason for that.

Of course, sometimes that sort of thing happens but usually there's a reason for it. This absolutely doesn't count as a reason. From the sound of it, you were doing what you thought was best in the situation and you were a bit rude about it, but none of that is a reason to try to kill someone.

Oh, I acknowledge that I deserved the reprimand, given that I should have requested permission instead of simply informing him of what I was doing. I was highly disrespectful in how I went about it.

But there's certainly a reason why I've said that I wasn't the worst person my world has to offer.

Certainly not! I'm very sorry you had to remember something like this, and I really do hope you'll be able to feel a little less irritated by it soon. But I do understand, it sounds awful!

Again, this was before I was infected. So it would have been very easy for that thing to kill me. It nearly did, it got me on the ground a few times.

Normally I was annoyed when I dealt with Sergei. If it wasn't that, I found things interesting. This was different, however - he said he was teaching me a lesson, so I assumed he was going to hurt me badly.

It wasn't until that thing had me on the ground and he refused to call it off that I realized that he was trying to kill me, and furthermore that I was absolutely going to die unless something drastic happened. There was fear then, though I did what I could to channel it into something else. Anger. The desire to fight harder. Things like that.

I'm sorry. It sounds like it was a very difficult memory. I certainly don't blame you for being scared, or for being angry. It really does seem like it would be difficult to process something like that. Is there anything I can do to help you?
