[Today has been...reasonably easy and not hideous, which is a welcome change from the entire past month. Wesker is still seeming fairly relaxed, though he does want to return to work soon; he imagines it's worth the wait in the interest of maintaining normalcy.
He's gotten some of those tickets from Retrospec, however; inserting them into that mailbox gets him...well, it seems to be nothing, really. That's confusing, but hardly something to complain about; the second ticket gets him a small, clear...thing with a red and white logo on the inside of it. He's quiet, just...holding on to it for a good long moment before deciding that he needs to very much not have this in public; he'll pocket it, and he'll leave, and he intends to put it in one of his safes in the basement and never look at it again.
Once he gets home, however, those plans change rather rapidly; he'll tell Jaeger that he'll be in the basement for a bit, and then he'll get about halfway downstairs before he realizes, and then he is quite suddenly back upstairs looking somewhat like he's just noticed that someone has filled the basement with live snakes.
Okay. Right. Fuck the basement. He doesn't care if Jaeger probably just heard that entire production; fuck the basement.]
[Wesker isn't the only one who has gotten stuff from Retrospec. It isn't often they give Jaeger anything, but they've decided to give him more weapons. He normally wouldn't complain, but he doesn't even know how to use a bow? Why does he need two of them. They feel weird too, there's definitely more to them, so he's examining one of them after Wesker departed for the basement, but when he hears footsteps coming back up the stairs he'll head on over to check it out. The bows can wait.]
Did you forget something...?
[No, that's definitely not it. Wesker looks sort of like he wants to die? Um.]
[It's not too late in the evening when Cumore texts; to be expected, really, it's not like he can work in conditions like this.]
I'm going to assume your boyfriend knew what he was talking about by claiming he was immune to the virus and as such you're not both completely indisposed right now.
You don't have to worry about me, we're doing just fine! I'm certainly not taking any chances with any of this, so it'll be incredibly surprising if I somehow get infected with something.
[In other words, he's not leaving the house and it's Terrible.]
I've personally got a barricade that would make a bunch of singing Frenchmen proud, so I'm not terribly concerned about myself, either. And the cat is obviously staying inside.
Unrelatedly, and as a matter of sheer curiosity - is there ever going to come a point in these memories I'm receiving where I won't be profoundly disappointed in everything I decided to be back then, or is that just going to be par for the course, do you think?
[It's been a long month. It seems like things outside are finally dying down, but Wesker still doesn't trust himself outside and he doesn't intend to let Jaeger go out there, either, with things being as they are. The result is...well, it's frankly a lot of boredom, but he's currently managing.
...He's somewhat amused to find Jaeger in the study tinkering away with one of his puzzles, though. Good lord.]
[It's a lot of boredom. Leaving is absolutely not an option and he's never once tried to argue against that, but god. He's so bored.
Which is exactly why he picked up one of Wesker's puzzles to mess with. It didn't take Wesker all that long to solve this one, so surely he can figure it out too!
...He's going to regret everything, but right now he's only mildly frustrated. He jumps a bit when Wesker speaks up and his first instinct is to hide the damn thing, before realizing that's completely pointless.]
Of course! I'm sure I've nearly got it!
[...he's on like. step two, if we're being generous.]
[...You know what, Cumore can't sleep tonight, and even if tomorrow is Monday and he's going to absolutely suffer for this it's probably past midnight when he texts.]
I told you I would let you know if I remembered anything else about the knights.
Good news! Every single one of us was a disappointment. ♡
[Oh, hi, Cumore. It's a bit strange to be hearing from you this late when you've got to get up in only a few hours, but he'll be nice and not ask about it (for now).]
I take it you've remembered some more about them? Do tell!
Schwann was a commoner, apparently, who got his rank by being a hero of war - which is splendid and all, only he decided to just never be around and Alexei let him get away with this for some reason. I found most of his brigade to be highly incompetent, including and especially LeBlanc, who was apparently his second. That excruciatingly loud and grating man that I mentioned to you before.
[...HE'S NOT GOING TO SAY IT, BUT IF ANYONE KEEPS THEIR POSITION BY SLEEPING WITH ALEXEI, IT'S TOTALLY SCHWANN.]
Meanwhile, apparently I was having a lovely time in the desert threatening my own knights' wives and children before sending them off to get murdered because they weren't doing their jobs quickly enough.
So between us, we have the general pinnacle of incompetence, the veritable matryoshka of human rights violations, and a necromancer that threatened to burn down orphanages. My hopes are not high for Flynn and whatever he did.
I remembered the names of Dazai's children. Sonoko, Masaki, Satoko, Haruko - three daughters, one son. I know Haruko was conceived from an affair, and I'm almost sure that Sonoko was the one from the memory I had before of Dazai reading to his daughter.
I don't know how I feel about them. Or maybe I just don't know the words.
[Ah, this is... Well, it's certainly something, isn't it.]
It's understandable either way. It's a lot to remember, isn't it? It's okay if you don't know how to feel about them or about the memories. And if it's just that you don't know the words, I think that's something most of us would experience. It's strange to remember children when you don't have any of your own. I remembered my daughters very early on and even now I'm still not sure how I feel about all of that.
It's going to be very strange for awhile, but I know you'll be okay.
[It's past work hours but still reasonably early in the evening when Cumore texts; it's probably because he hasn't set out for the bars yet - it is Saturday night, after all.]
You know, as much as I hate everything that's going on, this is an improvement over last year. I'm almost impressed at the lack of existential crises I've been given lately.
Same! I was honestly wondering if Retrospec would try to outdo last year, but I didn't receive anything from them for my birthday. Not that I'm complaining, of course! I appreciate the break!
[It's a relatively brief time after the ley lines first began appearing, along with the darkness surrounding them; Arthur doesn't quite know what they are, but he suspects they're nothing good - he knows better than to follow them into lord-only-knows-what, but he does imagine that something needs to be done about them.
Shops like this are weirdly his first choice when it comes to these sorts of things - they tend to have rarer objects within them, and shop owners who have no idea what they actually have with regards to what they are. He's never been in this particular place - Leviathan's Claw is an...interesting name, it's a little confused but it's got the spirit - and thankfully there doesn't seem to be a large number of people present at the time. He'll go in easily enough; he seems as though he's here for a reason, as opposed to aimless wandering, and he looks a little intense but honestly that's probably just kind of his face.]
[As much fun as delving into hell is (it isn't), Jaeger does have a business to run and he can't afford to leave everything up to his employees all the time. So he's here today, working in the back with the door cracked in case a customer comes in. One of his employees is out front and could easily handle anything, but Jaeger's glad for the distraction when he hears the door open. He'll head on out to greet the customer after a moment, only to find someone seemingly looking for something specific. Huh. Usually he just gets people who are browsing.]
Good afternoon! Welcome to Leviathan's Claw, [oh my god who let him name this place when he can't even pronounce it right] is there anything I can assist you with?
