I was talking with the most flamboyant man I've ever seen. [Considering that this is coming from Jaeger, that's saying something.] We seemed pretty keen on starting a war and I believe I was there to sell him weapons. Despite what I was saying and agreeing with, I don't think I liked him very much.

...Unfortunately, there wasn't much to tell me who he was or why I was doing any of that.

Ja, it really would have been nice to know anything else about the Union and the Empire but as it stands right now, I know nothing about why I'd want to start a war in the first place.

[He shrugs after that's out there. He's sort of frustrated with it, but it's not worth getting bent out of shape over. Not yet, anyway. Maybe there's a perfectly reasonable explanation...?]

I will, though. I certainly can't keep all of this in my head without going crazy and the last thing I need is to talk to Elda about this again.

I don't blame you! She gets really into it, especially if it's anything remotely depressing and then suddenly you're weighed down by it too and it's awful. Don't tell her anything if you want to avoid having feelings about it!

If anything, I would prefer to not trouble her with it - things are superficial, for the most part, and I like them that way.

But I agree! It's much easier to keep everything superficial, especially with her. I'll have to make sure I don't trim my hedges for a few weeks just so we can go back to something resembling normalcy!

I don't know, I find her company charming enough. Somewhat strange at times, but not unpleasant.

Ja, there is. The last time I got attached to someone she stabbed me in the back and that's why I'm here!

[He doesn't sound bothered by it at all, but he's doing that eyes-closed, obviously fake thing he does sometimes.]

[There are things that could be said here for the fact that Jaeger seems easy to exploit, once he's interested enough in someone - after all, he's strangely dedicated to Wesker's well-being, and they've really only started becoming close over the last few months. But that's not something that's socially acceptable to say, and so he doesn't, though he does have to deliberate it for a moment.]

I assume this has to do with the incident that happened a few years ago?

That's correct, ja. I ended up coming here afterwards because I have a cousin in the area. It's nice and I'm glad I'm here, but I haven't quite gotten over what happened!

A lack of attachment does sound like it would be for the best after something like that, whether you're "over it" or not. I don't know if I could personally find something like that forgivable.
