[AND THE DOGS GO WILD though they'll actually calm down surprisingly quickly once you're actually inside and have made your presence known for a little while? Huh.]
...Seems they're getting a bit more used to you being around.
[...Oh. He...isn't altogether sure what to do with that notion, but you know what, it's fine? It's fine, overall. Sort of nice? Maybe.]
That man's name was William Birkin. He was two years younger than I was. We met when he was sixteen and I was eighteen, at some sort of training facility.
I don't know what he was doing in the same sort of program I was in, particularly at such a young age. I don't believe he was raised by the old man in the same way I was, seeing as he would have the same surname if that was the case. We were introduced by whatever corporation we were working under at the time, and we were informed that we would be working together from then on, and serve as some sort of reasonably close companionship if necessary.
I believe so. I've had other memories involving him as well - just projects that we were working on. And I believe he got married and had a daughter at one point, though I don't recall much about either the child or his wife.
[He's...slightly weirded out by Birkin's presence in his memories sometimes, honestly; he can't really place why.]
[Well, to start, he is very pointedly leaving out the part where Birkin was probably just as crazy, given some of the projects in question...]
It's...good, in some ways, yes. Recalling normal things like that - or, well. As normal as things can be.
I believe there was someone else that I was partial to - someone I knew while I was on the force. I remember being fond of him, out of the group of people that I was in charge of. Playing favorites, if you will.
In a way, it's nice to see someone have a sane reaction to it. Though I clearly didn't think so back then.
[He was surrounded by some insane people.]
...Does it trouble you, hearing it discussed so bluntly?
[I mean, it's being handled better than before, in that Jaeger is actually stating that it's him in those memories as opposed to awkwardly dancing around it, but on the other hand, Wesker can read the guy well enough. He doesn't sound like he's trying to call Jaeger out on it, at any rate, it's more just..asking.]
...There's no guarantee that that won't change, you know.
[Wesker not being like that, that is. Jaeger's fondness is really up to him to decide, and honestly Wesker really isn't sure what to do with that assertion in the first place - it's something he's aware of, it's just hearing it stated that still tends to catch him a bit.]
[And that much does seem to be genuine, at least; this sort of thing...tends to happen when he talks to Jaeger sometimes, apparently his intentions aren't always clear. Not a bad thing, per se, just...something he's noticed.]
I'm not suggesting that you should leave, or that any sort of pre-emptive measures should be done. It's more that I...
[...Aaaand this is why it's often unclear, probably, because how do you even. Just give him a moment.]
...I want you to know my stance on things before it becomes an issue. So that it isn't something that needs to be questioned, and so uncertainty won't influence your decision any. I dislike the idea of blindsiding you - that's why I explained the way that so many of my interpersonal relationships are temporary, as well. That isn't a habit you should be unaware of.
This is something else along those lines. I want you to know that I understand that this may be a decision that you come to eventually, that's all.

...Seems they're getting a bit more used to you being around.
[Come on, let's go. Study as usual?]
no subject
Who knows, maybe someday they'll actually like me!
[Hahahaha... no. Anyway, yes, let's head to the study!]
no subject
I do appreciate your being here on such short notice, particularly for something so reasonably inconsequential.
no subject
[Especially because he lives here on the weekends now.]
But anyway! What did you remember?

...I don't know. I like to believe that we may have been.

[Well, probably a friend. He sounds like a totally normal guy, too! So how was he friends with other-Wesker, exactly??]
no subject

no subject
Well, I think it's fairly normal to play favorites. Just as long as you weren't too obvious about it, of course!
no subject
[...]
Presumably because he wasn't thrilled about the entire supervillain thing I decided to do with my life.
[YOU KNOW, JUST TO TAKE A GUESS.]
no subject
[It's still awkward to hear Wesker talk about it in first person like that, but he's getting better at dealing with it.]

It still does, a little bit. I'm still trying to come to terms with it for myself, I suppose. It may always be a little awkward for me.
no subject
[Just...to get that out there.]
You did say before that you would dislike the person in my memories, after all.
no subject
[It's something he's thought a lot about, but it's not hard to admit.]
I think part of it is because you aren't like that. I'm very fond of you, after all.
no subject

I want to say "you won't change" but I can't really say that for sure, can I? We have no way of knowing what will happen in the future.
no subject
[He's...kind of tense, but after a moment he tries to shake it off.]
I know you dislike this sort of conversation; my apologies.
no subject
[He shakes his head a bit as if to clear it.]
You don't have to apologize for it!
no subject
[It doesn't seem right to leave it there, but he isn't altogether sure what else to say; just...give him a moment.]
If you decide at any point that you want nothing further to do with this, I won't fault you for it. You are aware of that much, correct...?
no subject
It's very kind of you to say that, but I'm not going to ditch like that! You're a dear friend and I'd never forgive myself for running!
We don't know what's going to happen; it's a little too soon to start planning for the worst case scenario, ja?
no subject
