In a way, it's nice to see someone have a sane reaction to it. Though I clearly didn't think so back then.
[He was surrounded by some insane people.]
...Does it trouble you, hearing it discussed so bluntly?
[I mean, it's being handled better than before, in that Jaeger is actually stating that it's him in those memories as opposed to awkwardly dancing around it, but on the other hand, Wesker can read the guy well enough. He doesn't sound like he's trying to call Jaeger out on it, at any rate, it's more just..asking.]
...There's no guarantee that that won't change, you know.
[Wesker not being like that, that is. Jaeger's fondness is really up to him to decide, and honestly Wesker really isn't sure what to do with that assertion in the first place - it's something he's aware of, it's just hearing it stated that still tends to catch him a bit.]
[And that much does seem to be genuine, at least; this sort of thing...tends to happen when he talks to Jaeger sometimes, apparently his intentions aren't always clear. Not a bad thing, per se, just...something he's noticed.]
I'm not suggesting that you should leave, or that any sort of pre-emptive measures should be done. It's more that I...
[...Aaaand this is why it's often unclear, probably, because how do you even. Just give him a moment.]
...I want you to know my stance on things before it becomes an issue. So that it isn't something that needs to be questioned, and so uncertainty won't influence your decision any. I dislike the idea of blindsiding you - that's why I explained the way that so many of my interpersonal relationships are temporary, as well. That isn't a habit you should be unaware of.
This is something else along those lines. I want you to know that I understand that this may be a decision that you come to eventually, that's all.
[That gets him to settle a bit and go back to taking things seriously again. Jaeger's quiet for a moment after that's out there before speaking up.]
Thank you, then. I really do appreciate the effort you're going to for me. I... know I'm not very good at dealing with things like this, and if this had happened a few years back I probably would be very worried about what's to come. But you're a dear friend and so for now... I'm really not all that worried.
That's not to say I'm completely dismissing the possibility, of course. I understand that you could very well become more like the man in your memories. But if that happens... I promise I'll talk to you about it.
[As much as he wants to say he won't leave, he knows he can't promise that. This is the next best thing.]

[...]
Presumably because he wasn't thrilled about the entire supervillain thing I decided to do with my life.
[YOU KNOW, JUST TO TAKE A GUESS.]

[It's still awkward to hear Wesker talk about it in first person like that, but he's getting better at dealing with it.]

It still does, a little bit. I'm still trying to come to terms with it for myself, I suppose. It may always be a little awkward for me.
no subject
[Just...to get that out there.]
You did say before that you would dislike the person in my memories, after all.
no subject
[It's something he's thought a lot about, but it's not hard to admit.]
I think part of it is because you aren't like that. I'm very fond of you, after all.

I want to say "you won't change" but I can't really say that for sure, can I? We have no way of knowing what will happen in the future.
no subject
[He's...kind of tense, but after a moment he tries to shake it off.]
I know you dislike this sort of conversation; my apologies.
no subject
[He shakes his head a bit as if to clear it.]
You don't have to apologize for it!
no subject
[It doesn't seem right to leave it there, but he isn't altogether sure what else to say; just...give him a moment.]
If you decide at any point that you want nothing further to do with this, I won't fault you for it. You are aware of that much, correct...?
no subject
It's very kind of you to say that, but I'm not going to ditch like that! You're a dear friend and I'd never forgive myself for running!
We don't know what's going to happen; it's a little too soon to start planning for the worst case scenario, ja?

[That seems to settle him a good deal, honestly; that...it's good, it's a good agreement to come to.]
Thank you. I appreciate it, Jaeger.
no subject
[It's just easier to be flippant and dismissive of everything.]
no subject
[It's...something, anyway.]
With any luck it won't come to that in the first place, however; I'd...like things to remain as they are between us.
no subject
[when will he realize]
no subject
...If you say so.
no subject
[so of course it's back to this!!]
no subject
[He's flustered.]
It's kind of you to say, that's all.
no subject
Well, of course! As I've said, you're very important to me! It's important that you know that!
[For some reason this has kind of put a damper on his teasing??]
no subject
I do know that, yes.
[Mnnngh, why are you like this. Even if the teasing has settled a bit, why.]
no subject
[Because he's terrible. And speaking of terrible...]
So when are you going to tell me how important I am to you, hmm?
no subject
I imagine you know as much already...?
