[He's got it with him, because of course he does; he will just be setting his drink down for a second for the sake of pulling out a massive fuckoff combat knife with a serrated edge on it, the initials S.T.A.R.S. engraved into the blade itself, and some weirdass insignia near the hilt.

...He'll set it on the table, you can take it to look at if you want. And proceed to pick up his damn drink again.]

You've seen your share of odd things. I don't suppose you recognize that?

[Jaeger picks it up carefully, turning it this way and and that as he examines it.]

No, I don't. It's an interesting piece, though! I don't recognize that insignia at all, do you?

[He doubts it. Because this is Retrospec and they're a pain in the ass like that.]

No. Nor do I understand why I would be receiving something apparently issued by some sort of police department - I've never any interest in law enforcement in my life.

Hmm. I'm sure there's a reason behind it, but I can't say what it could be.

[He'll set the knife back down on the table and shrug.]

At least, I'm hoping there's some kind of secret method to their madness! If there isn't, I don't know what I'll do.

To hear the others talk, it has something to do with past lives.

I'm not entirely certain how much I believe that, however. Just on principle, it's patently ridiculous.

It's not something I'm putting that much thought into, don't worry!

[He holds up a hand and laughs, this time it sounds closer to genuine.]

But it's something I haven't dismissed entirely, if you want me to be perfectly honest. I'm not sure what to make of any of this.

I'm a man of science, Jaeger. I'm not going to put much stock into all of this new-age reincarnation...whatnot without any sort of proof.

Of course not. And I certainly don't blame you for that! But I can't dismiss it quite as easily.

[It's light-hearted, but he's still studying Wesker carefully.]

[He's just kind of...agitatedly quiet at that for a moment.]

It didn't even feel like me in the first place - or at the very least, not something I would normally do under any sane circumstances.

I didn't understand the reason behind anything that was happening, it was very brief.

[He doesn't finish that thought right away, though he isn't still; he's just...playing with the liquid inside the glass a bit, swirling it idly while he considers, and once in a while he shakes his head as though he's debating with himself.

It takes him a while.]
