I'm not going to fight you over it. You're right, I really shouldn't be that dismissive of it. I'll give it some more thought and I'll come to you once I've worked out my feelings on it.

[It's not thoroughly dismissive, just kind of blunt; he'll sort out what he thinks of it later, along with...everything else, he supposes.]

[Wesker's got a lot to sort through, doesn't he...]

...Do you want to be left alone for a little while?

[It wasn't dismissive, but Wesker's words were definitely blunted. Maybe it's best to give him some space...?]

[It's kind of a lot, Jaeger, yes.]

Perhaps that would be for the best, for the time being.

That isn't to say that I don't want you here, it's...

No, I know what you mean! You're dealing with a lot right now.

[He stands up and then turns to Wesker.]

I'll be in my room if you need me for anything.

[He wants to say "it'll be okay" or something along those lines, but he doesn't know that it will be. So instead he forces a smile and turns to leave.]

{Wesker will let Jaeger leave without trying to stop him; he'll be distant for a fair amount of the evening after that - spending time with his dogs, mostly. Taking time to calm himself down and sort out whatever is happening in his head.

It's a bit later in the evening when he approaches Jaeger's door; he pauses for a moment before knocking, though it isn't particularly hesitant.]

[Jaeger can entertain himself and he'll keep busy on his phone while Wesker's sorting himself out. Still, he can't help but be the tiniest bit relieved when he hears the knocking.]

Hey, how are you doing?

[Should we head back to the study...?]

...Well enough, I think.

[We...can, though he doesn't particularly care either way. Go, stay here, whichever.

He still sounds a little out of it, though not as blunted as before, so at least there's that much.]

That's good to hear. Is there something you want to talk to me about?

[He'll open the door wider so Wesker can come in. No sense going all the way over to the study when you're already here! Jaeger will take a seat on the bed, though he'll leave plenty of room in case Wesker wants to join him.]

[He'll come in, though he won't sit down; though he's tempted to pace, he manages to keep himself from doing so.]

It's nothing in particular, admittedly. Am I interrupting you somehow?

No, no! I wasn't doing anything important!

[And even if he was, he'd make time for Wesker.]

[He's quiet for a moment at that. Somewhat awkward, but then not much is exactly new in that regard...]

...Do you mind if we spend time for a while, then?

[It's awkward, sure, but he's gotten used to that. Wesker's words get him to smile anyway.]

Of course I don't mind. Is there anything in particular you want to do?

We don't have to do anything.

[...He doesn't feel like being alone.]

[He gets it. He doesn't like being alone either, after all.

...But with that said, he also doesn't like silence, so...]

Your dogs seem to have calmed down a lot! Do you think they're used to me now?

Decidedly more than they were. I've been spending time with them today as well; they can tell that I haven't been feeling well, so they're...concerned, I suppose.

Ja, I can certainly understand! Spending time with them helps though, doesn't it?

It does. They help me just as much as I've helped them; they keep me sane in a lot of ways.

I'm glad you have something like that! It's important to have something to help keep you sane, ja?

It is.

[And that reminds him of a conversation he had with Shuji at one point recently; he doesn't seem to know what to do with that notion and it seems odd to bring it up, but...it's not a bad thing, either.]

...You also tend to help me a great deal with that, you know.

That's nice to hear, you know! I'm really glad I can help! You help me a lot as well, so I'm glad I can return the favor!

Of course, Albert! You're the only person I trust with this much! It's still difficult for me to open up, but I've found it's gotten a bit easier with you, at least!

[That said, though, that is when he starts pacing; just trying to find something to do with himself, really, while he tries to collect himself.]

I remembered exactly what I was trying to do back then. With...all of the experiments, particularly the ones that kept recurring in my memories beyond a certain point. The sort of thing that Excella became.

That's what's been troubling me lately, and why I wanted you here with me for a while.
