[You are getting a picture sent to your inbox today, Jaeger, it's of that goddamned waffle house near that mailbox...thing that we're all supposed to use. Also a text.]
...While I normally make a practice of avoiding the Retrospec building entirely, I have to admit that I wasn't quite expecting this today.
Not that I can tell. It seems perfectly normal inside, and everyone who works here seems decent; the only indication that something is strange is the mailbox outside.
The tickets I received explained what I would find in the box, by the way. The description seems to have been truthful, so at least we know we can trust that much.
One of them - the one I wrote - seems to just be notes about Sergei.
The things written by someone I don't recognize includes a list of names and some notes about that old man's pet project, concerning what he did to us as children. It seems to have been written by someone in the project himself, given that it's signed off by someone named "Alex W." - his name appears on the list of test subjects, along with my own.
For whatever reason, the information Alex is providing here seems to be factually incorrect.
How is it incorrect? Could it have been an intentional mistake? If they were in the project perhaps they didn't want to share the truth, for some reason.
I'll explain that portion of it to you tonight, as it's not something I prefer to be sitting around texting about out in the open like this. But I wouldn't be surprised if it were intentionally falsified, as opposed to an honest mistake.
I see. I'll be home around the usual time, so you won't have to wait too long for me! That's very interesting though, I wonder why Retrospec wanted you to receive these files?
I'm glad you're having fun! Perhaps you'll have to take me there sometime. Though I don't know how I'd feel about a date to a waffle house where Retrospec's building used to be...
[So, now that we've clarified that they don't know how they feel about a date to the waffle house and that is probably going to end exactly as you'd expect eventually, the rest of the workday will be...fine? Normal. Generally normal, weird files notwithstanding; it isn't as though the files contain any information that's bothering him, he just can't fathom why some of them exist in the first place.
He'll be looking over them when Jaeger returns from work; he's in the study as usual, with the files and a different set of notes in front of him. Hi.]
Jaeger's always punctual and he'll arrive home (to Wesker's house, that is) soon enough. He makes his way to the study without thinking about it, and he's not disappointed.]
[And that's about all you're going to get in terms of an answer for a moment; he'll look up once he's done checking...whatever it is he's looking at, hang on.]
It's as I've thought - none of the names of the people on this list match anyone I recognize from my memories. Someone named "William" is on here, but the only one I knew had a different surname entirely.
None but my own - apparently I was "Test Subject 013" before I had any sort of name.
[That is...very sarcastic and somewhat irritated, but at least, he doesn't sound upset.]
Alex's notes themselves are referring to an accident that the old man told me about in my memories - something that destroyed any and all research that had been done on that particular project of his, and he thought that it destroyed me as well. I'm assuming that he came to this conclusion by way of this "Alex" person; Alex mentioned that his department confirmed my death.
Obviously, I didn't die in that accident. I don't remember it, but I definitely wasn't killed there - so I'm not sure why he would report that I did.

I suppose it's an improvement?

I would say so, but how did the whole building just vanish? How does that even happen?

At the very least, their coffee isn't anything to complain about.

What did your tickets say? Or is that better left for tonight?
[He wouldn't be surprised if it's something that's best left off the network.]

I appear to have written one of them myself, whereas the others came from someone whose name I don't recognize.

Either way, we can discuss it tonight. I need to return to work for the time being.
[...There is a pause.]
...The waffles here are likewise acceptable, for the record.

I don't even know how to end that, honestly.

Well, it looks as though you're hard at work as usual!
[He'll take his usual seat though, leaning his chin on his hand as he does so.]
So! Tell me all about these files. You said you don't recognize any of the names there?
