OVER 18? Yes!
CHARACTERS IN-GAME: N/A

CHARACTER
NAME: Yeager
CANON: Tales of Vesperia
CANON POINT: Immediately after starting his fight against the party in Zaude, but before the second phase and his death.
AGE: Yeager doesn't have a canon age, but he's presumably around the same age as Raven. I'll be using 34 for headcanon.
BACKGROUND:

PERSONALITY:
Yeager seems to be a pleasant man; he's smooth-talking and he's almost always smiling. Nothing seems to get under his skin. He's the sort of guy that's easy to get along with.

And then you realize he's orchestrating a war between the Empire and the guilds, running two guilds, selling arms and blastia under the table, and posing as a different person all at the same time.

The charming personality isn't an act, however. Considering just how far Leviathan's Claw reaches within the game, it's safe to say Yeager is very good at what he does. Leviathan's Claw is a guild of assassins that deals in selling weaponry. Yeager runs everything on top of handling Ruin's Gate, another guild and one that is considered very influential. After Yeager dies, the guild has no idea what to do and no one steps up to take Yeager's place. Regaey is the leader of Ruin's Gate, and given the backwards name, it's obviously just Yeager in disguise. Regaey looks and acts absolutely nothing like Yeager. Everyone completely buys this act and considering Ruin's Gate's spotless reputation as one of the Five Master Guilds, Regaey can do whatever he wants. Yeager's acting skills are exceptional, which plays into how he presents himself to potential clients and enemies alike.

Speaking of enemies, Yeager acts like he's the easiest person to get along with, but most people dislike him. Yeager is attacked by Don Whitehorse, someone Yeager actually likes. The Don claims the world would be a better place without Yeager in it. Yeager isn't offended by this or by the attempt on his life and he shows up to the Don's funeral. It's the one moment where Yeager actually is bothered by something, even if it's only for a bit.

Yeager almost never shows any emotion other than mild amusement. He never gets angry. He never gets scared. This blasé attitude is not something Yeager puts on as a front, however. Ten years ago Yeager served the Empire as a knight and fought in the Great War; it was during this conflict that Yeager died. Yeager was brought back to life by Alexei through the use of a special blastia. This blastia gave him a second chance at life and Yeager chose to leave the Empire. Ten years later, Yeager's entire world view is so warped by having a second chance at life he can't genuinely care about much. This isn't due to the blastia limiting his emotions, this is entirely because Yeager is a screwed up individual who took dying and coming back from the dead really poorly.

This is particularly notable when it comes to Gauche and Droite, his adopted daughters. Despite caring for them, Yeager usually utilizes them as bodyguards. They protect and fight for him and they are the people Yeager is closest to, but they can't get into his base without being questioned. Yeager does care for them, but ultimately his version of "caring" is so subdued it's outweighed by his distrust. While he doesn't appear to care for them very much during the course of the game, it's obvious that he does; he puts his life on the line for them. He's pressured into working for Alexei using them and the orphanage they came from (that Yeager still funds) as leverage. This ultimately ends in Yeager's death.

Yeager trusts no one more than himself. He does everything on his own and only relies on Gauche and Droite rarely. If Yeager trusted anyone else, he wouldn't be doing everything by himself. During his final battle with the party, Yeager chooses to fight alone. Gauche and Droite are nearby, but they flee after Yeager dies and do not interfere with the battle at all, because he ordered them not to. This extends to Alexei of course, though Yeager did die trying to defend Alexei due to that nasty threat mentioned above.

He's a powerful and influential man with both the Empire and the guilds and his efforts pushed both sides close to war. While this was to further his own goals, it was also because of just how apathetic he's become since dying. His apathy has gotten so bad that he truly believed death to be preferable to continuing to live. This was aggravated by Alexei showing up and threatening the things Yeager holds dear. Yeager puts his all into everything he does and when he dies, he takes as much control over the situation as he can. He pointed the party toward Zaphias knowing they would confront Alexei, and eventually he would have to face them. Yeager will ultimately choose his own happiness over everyone else's, even if what he wants is death.

Despite this fatalistic world view and the desire for everything to finally be over, Yeager can find happiness, even if it is momentary. He genuinely enjoys his work and he cares for his daughters. He loves challenges and the chance to really push himself, so he enjoyed his final battle - he had a chance to go all out and see what he could do with the blastia. While he did choose to let himself die against the party, he is not usually of the opinion that he'd prefer to die, otherwise he wouldn't be doing everything he did. Yeager had things to live for, even if those things were just his guild and his daughters. When Alexei threatens the freedom Yeager's tried so hard to create for himself, he decides dying will solve his problems better than anything else. Which is dumb, but Yeager's not exactly a man of good decisions.

He's at the canon point where he has decided he'll die, but hasn't actually gotten to the part in the fight where he's going all out yet. He won't feel the same in game because he'll have plenty of new things to explore.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
As a Tales boss, Yeager is a powerful threat and able to handle himself in combat easily. He's a very versatile fighter on the physical side of things, with no magic attacks at all. He can use artes (basically powerful physical attacks) and can go into Overlimit (a brief mode that boosts his power). Once in Overlimit he can use his Mystic Arte (an exceptionally strong physical attack that can hit multiple enemies as long as they're within his line of sight). All of this is standard Tales stuff and not particularly noteworthy in his world - I am absolutely willing to nerf Overlimit/his Mystic Arte if needed, however.

Yeager uses a unique weapon that is capable of transforming into a bunch of different weapons - he can use it as a giant scythe, a giant rifle, a crossbow, or a sword. It also has a shield form and can fold up into a briefcase for easy carrying! This weapon is never explained in game, but it isn't magical. It doesn't require ammo for the crossbow or rifle forms, but if you all would prefer for it to have limited ammo, I'm perfectly fine with that. All of his artes are performed with the weapon in its various forms.

The second weapon listed in his inventory is a bow that can transform into a knife; Yeager doesn't ever use this one in-game, but he would know how to use it since he was a part of the unit in the knights that used those specific weapons. He will always use his usual weapon first, however.

Something very important to note about Vesperia and Yeager in general is his blastia. In Vesperia, blastia basically serve as power sources that allow people access to artes and magic. Everyone who fights carries one, usually worn as an accessory. Yeager's is not worn as an accessory, because it's actually his heart. Due to that whole "dying and being brought back to life with a blastia" thing mentioned above, his blastia doubles as his heart and runs entirely on his life energy instead of on aer like other blastia. (No, that doesn't make sense. No, Vesperia doesn't explain it. Just roll with it.) The blastia makes Yeager more durable than most people. Raven, who has the same blastia heart, survives something that would have crushed a normal person to death, for example. Overusing his blastia (through artes/his Mystic Arte/surviving things he probably shouldn't) will not kill Yeager, but it will tire him out. The blastia itself is not nearly as durable, however, and if it is broken/crushed/destroyed then Yeager will die. He's still human and can still be killed as normal outside of this - the blastia doesn't give him any cool regenerative abilities or anything of the sort.

Finally, it's worth mentioning Yeager's ridiculous ability to disguise himself. This isn't magical or anything, he's just really good at pretending to be someone else. He spends a portion of the game masquerading as Regaey (yes, no one notices that it's just his name in reverse) who is the head of a completely different guild and acts nothing like Yeager. Yeager's capable of dropping his accent on command (though always uses it while he's "Yeager") and his acting skills are top-notch. With that said, he has no reason to run around pretending to be Regaey here (and doesn't have his disguise either), so this is mostly here for completion's sake.

INVENTORY:
★ The clothes on his back and the heart blastia beneath said clothes.
Yeager's weapon: Capable of taking on six different forms: scythe, rifle, sword, crossbow, shield, and briefcase. (As mentioned above, I'm willing to nerf it or add ammo for the rifle/crossbow forms if you feel it's necessary!)
Alexandrite: A ring capable of giving the wearer a boost in energy. Or at least it was, now it's just a pretty ring.
Splash Bow: A bow that can also turn into a knife. (Like with the crossbow/rifle, I'm perfectly fine with working with a set amount of ammo for the bow!)
I wasn't entirely sure if his weapons count as one item slot or multiples; in case this is too much, leave the Splash Bow and/or the Alexandrite ring out!

MOONBLESSING: Cordis.
